Women and girls in rural societies of Zimbabwe are mostly discriminated and have no access to information on how they can fight this. They are mostly excluded in decision making structures even if they constitute 52% of the country’s population.
Women and girls are confined to doing reproductive roles in the home whilst men engage in productive work and thus the men are regarded more superior in decision making than their female counterparts. This makes women and girls vulnerable to abuse and discrimination on the basis of gender.
ABDO uses both Training for Transformation (TFT) and Study Circles methodologies to raise awareness and empower girls and women to actively participate in all community activities. It does that through the following activities:
